Tradescantia Zebrina

ABOUT TRADESCANTIA

Tradescantia, also known as the Inch plant, is an easy-care succulent with long trailing vines.

The versatile foliage, which ranges in color from dark green to deep purple, is an excellent option for any design scheme. The plant will produce darker leaves in brighter light.

Tradescantia is also a great air-purifier, helping clean the air of toxins while also improving your mood.

WATERING

When should I water my Tradescantia plant?

To see if your plant needs water, stick your finger about an inch down into the soil. If it feels dry, water. Do not water if the soil feels moist. Unsure? Check again in a few days.

Never mist your foliage. Misting leaves causes fungal issues and disease. The only plants that are okay to mist are ferns and carnivorous plants.

LIGHT NEEDS

Tradescantia prefer bright indirect sunlight.

GROWTH

Tradescantia Zebrina is a fast-growing vining plant. Prune as needed for size and shape.

SOIL NEEDS

Tradescantia grows best in moist, well-drained soil.

TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY

Tradescantia prefer average indoor temperatures and high humidity. To boost humidity around the plant, place a tray filled with pebbles underneath its saucer or use a humidifier.

FERTILIZING

Fertilize Tradescantia March through October with an all-purpose houseplant food. To help it grow optimally and evenly, occasionally dust the leaves, and rotate the pot by a ¼ turn once a month. Prune only when needed.

ARE TRADESCANTIA PET SAFE?

According to the ASPCA Tradescantia is toxic to dogs, cats and horses.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Insufficient light will cause the foliage to fade. Drooping or yellow leaves is often caused by overwatering.
