WATERING

When should I water my Peperomia?

To see if your plant needs water, stick your finger about an inch down into the soil. If the soil feels dry, water. If the soil feels moist, do not water. If you are unsure, check again in a few days. Many varieties of this houseplant can effectively hold water in their fleshy stems and leaves during times of drought, so they can hold their own if you forget to water or go on vacation.

Never mist your foliage. Misting leaves causes fungal issues and disease. The only plants that are okay to mist are ferns and carnivorous plants.

LIGHT NEEDS

Grow best in medium light conditions. They can tolerate low light, but do not grow as well and their foliage may not be as vibrant.

GROWTH

The size depends on its variety.

SOIL NEEDS

Prefer a well-drained soil or cactus mix.

TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY

Enjoy high humidity and adapt well to normal household temperatures.

FERTILIZING

May be fertilized March through October with an all-purpose houseplant food. To help it grow optimally and evenly, occasionally dust the leaves, and rotate the pot by a ¼ turn once a month. Prune only when needed.

ARE PEPEROMIA PET SAFE?

According to the ASPCA, Peperomia is non-toxic to dogs and cats.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the edges of the leaves turn brown, dry or curl up, the plant may be under-watered and lacking humidity. Yellow or pale leaves may be a sign of overwatering.
