HOW TO CARE FOR
Schefflera
Schefflera arboricola
ABOUT SCHEFFLERA
Schefflera, also known as the umbrella plant, is a popular houseplant because it is easy care and adds fun texture with its divided hand-like leaves. It tolerates a wide range of growing conditions, making it an ideal option for beginners.
Schefflera is an excellent choice for a bedroom, living room, office or any medium lit space to add the beauty of nature and also clean the air.
WATERING
When should I water my Schefflera?
To see if your plant needs water, stick your finger about an inch down into the soil. If the soil feels dry, water. If the soil feels moist, do not water. If you are unsure, check again in a few days.
Never mist your foliage. Misting leaves causes fungal issues and disease. The only plants that are okay to mist are ferns and carnivorous plants.
LIGHT NEEDS
Schefflera plants thrive in medium indirect light.
GROWTH
Schefflera may grow 8-10 ft. tall.
SOIL NEEDS
Scheffleras prefer a slightly moist well-drained soil mix.
TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY
Scheffleras prefer high humidity and adapts well to normal household temperatures.
FERTILIZING
Fertilize March through October with an all-purpose houseplant food. Prune as needed. To help it grow optimally and evenly, occasionally dust the leaves, and rotate the pot by a ¼ turn once a month.
ARE SCHEFFLERA PET SAFE?
According to the ASPCA, Schefflera are toxic to dogs and cats.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Schefflera leaves may turn brown or yellow and fall off if you are overwatering.
