HOW TO CARE FOR
Alocasia amazonica ‘Polly’
ABOUT ALOCASIA POLLY
- Black Magic
- Ivory Coast
Alocasia Polly is a member of the elephant ear family. This compact and exotic houseplant has stunning darkly colored foliage with pale green veining.
Known for its ability to purify the air, Alocasia Polly makes a great gift and adds interest to any space.
When should I water my Alocasia Polly?
To see if your plant needs water, stick your finger about an inch down into the soil. If the soil feels dry, water. If the soil feels moist, do not water. If you are unsure, check again in a few days.
Never mist your foliage. Misting leaves causes fungal issues and disease. The only plants that are okay to mist are ferns and carnivorous plants.
Alocasia Polly grows best in medium indirect light.
Alocasia Polly plants will grow up to 2 ft. tall.
For a healthy Alocasia Polly, use a premium well-drained soil mixture.
TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY
Alocasia Polly thrives in high humidity and average household temperatures.
Alocasia Polly should be fertilized March – October with an all-purpose houseplant food. Pruning is rarely needed. To help your plant grow optimally and evenly, occasionally dust the leaves and rotate the pot by a ¼ turn once a month.
IS ALOCASIA POLLY PET SAFE?
According to the ASPCA, Alocasia Polly is toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
If your Alocasia Polly’s bottom leaves are turning yellow or pale, reduce watering.
