WATERING

When should I water my Croton?

To see if your plant needs water, stick your finger about an inch down into the soil. If it feels dry, water. If the soil feels moist, do not water. If you are unsure, check again in a few days.

Never mist your foliage. Misting leaves causes fungal issues and disease. The only plants that are okay to mist are ferns and carnivorous plants.

LIGHT NEEDS

Grows best in high light. Leaves will become brighter and more vibrant in direct sunlight.

GROWTH

The average plant will grow upwards of 2-4 feet tall.

SOIL NEEDS

Prefers a well-drained soil mix.

TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY

Prefers above-average humidity levels, but typically grow best in most homes. If your air is especially dry in winter, boosting humidity around the plant  will make it happier.

FERTILIZING

Fertilize March through October. Prune as needed to remove unhealthy leaves. To help it grow optimally and evenly, occasionally dust the leaves, and rotate the pot by a ¼ turn once a month.

ARE CROTON PET SAFE?

No – it is toxic to cats and dogs.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Will drop their leaves if they stay too wet or dry for extended periods of time.
