Summertime and the living is easy. Well, not if you’re a plant in an untended garden. We have seen an explosion of insects much earlier and more severe than we have seen in many years. Aphids, scale, caterpillars, slugs and snails are the most common problems our customers are showing us. It’s not just the early arrival but the size of the infestations that is alarming. Fungus is also starting to affect the garden and lawn. We had our first sample of powdery mildew this week.
Ladybugs and aphidsIt’s time to start checking your garden and lawn for insect and fungus problems. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. You need to check at least once a week. If you’ve had certain problems in the past please check to see if they are starting again this year. If you see something but are not sure what to do, bring us a nice size sample and a few photos on your phone so we can better help you prevent additional damage.

If you have not yet applied your second step of a 4-Step lawn program, now is the time to do it.
